How focused a telemarketing list is affects the list size. The more focused, the smaller the list size, and the less focused, the bigger the list size. When considering the profile of who your best customers are and who you want to focus your call efforts on, you should consider both geographic and demographic criteria.

Geographically speaking, should you target a city? A state? A radius around a zip code? An area code? The entire nation?

Demographically speaking, should you target a gender? An age range? Different ethnicities? Different income levels? Lifestyle choices?

There are so many ways to target your best customers. However, too much of a focus may leave you with a list of just 15 people to contact. Even though telemarketing is generally the easiest, fastest and most responsive direct marketing channel, 15 calls is probably not going to generate a whole lot of sales. It’s a numbers gain. The more you call, the more sales you’ll get. So get your list count up and your sales will go up.
